Big Agnes Copper Spur Hv Ul2 Footprint Review

Oct 30, 2024

The Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 Footprint is an essential accessory for anyone who owns the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 tent. If you're considering purchasing this footprint, it's essential to hear what real users have to say about their experiences. In this article, we'll dive into some authentic buyer reviews to help you make an informed decision. Whether you're a seasoned camper or a beginner, these reviews will provide valuable insights into the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 Footprint.

1.Review from Customer "DaveT":

"As others have said, the footprint really doesn't fit well. Just got off phone with BA support and suggest this work around: stake out footprint but not too tight. Put tent guys over same stakes and adjust the stake locations a little so tent is very tight (footprint will not be tight). Put in poles. For me that kind of works and allows the tent to 'come off' footprint while still on poles. Obviously would be easier if pole tabs were shorter and more expected if it cost $25!"

2.Review from Customer "Neil R.":

"I feel this piece should be included with the tent and highly recommend getting it as the tent base material although of good quality seems light and fragile. The footprint itself is decent although appears to fit loosely under the tent. The 4 corner straps with grommets where the tent poles go in need to be adjustable in length so it can be made taught otherwise it just loosely sits under the tent and needs to be staked in place to keep it from moving out during set up . Otherwise it is as described and an expensive add on to what is already an expensive tent."

3.Review from Customer "Jen L":

"I bought the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV Expedition Series Footprint for my new BA HV UL2 Tent: 2-Person 3-Season. The tent itself is made of such lightweight material that one would not want to risk the tent floor's integrity by setting it up naked on the ground unless you camp on a Kentucky Bluegrass lawn. We used the footprint for our fabulous tent along the CDT in the Wind Rivers in June. The footprint protected our tent from stubborn little rocks, tree roots, various tree detritus, boggy ground, and rainwater that tunneled under our tent during several lengthy rainstorms. Frequently the snow or recently snow-free ground left us with limited tent site options, but the footprint kept our tent floor dry and hole-free. While the footprint has handy clips to attach to the fly for a stand-alone fly shelter, the conditions on our trip did not allow us to try them out. I'm sure they are great. The only downside was a strange seam that ran across the footprint. A completely unnecessary weak point. Why? Why? Just as you would not enter a Costco without a mask these days, don't set up your spendy BA HV UL2 Tent without its trusty footprint."

4.Review from Customer "Nick271":

"I was surprised to see this marked down so low on here compared to other retailers, found out the reason is because I think this is mislabeled on the site. The footprint I received was the HV UL2 LONG, (not the regular length tent). On further inspection, the dimensions listed on this page under the details are for the long version, though the title doesn’t reflect that. The package I received was clearly marked for the long variation of the tent, so I had to return it."

5.Review from Customer "Max_Planck":

"I've read a lot of reviews where people had issues with this footprint. As long as you understand the intent of the design it works just fine. The intended use is to insert the poles directly into the footprint before setting up the tent. Big Agnes designed it this way so you could drop the footprint and attach the rain fly if you were caught in a storm, then crawl in and wait it out or set up the tent without getting rained on. For the record, I haven't had to use it for this purpose, but I still lay the footprint down and put the poles in first. You can then wrap the tent straps under the footprint straps and the poles will go into both grommets. The footprint doesn't slide or move around and stays taut. The straps are color coded so you know which way to orient your tent. Worth the investment to keep an expensive tent from ripping."

6.Review from Customer "Mark S.":

"The concept of a separate groundsheet is sound. As allows you to replace as necessary or substitute alternatives (e.g. something heavier for rocky terrain). This is well made and integrates nicelywith the tent, and/or fly. No issues with eyelet sizes, poles etc. 5 stars for the ground sheet.
However, the price seems very high to me, About double or triple what I'd expect to pay for, well a pretty simple bit of kit. It should really be included with the tent. 1 star for value for money."

7.Review from Customer "WildBounds customer":

"It’s expensive!!
A small piece of material with 4 holes for What??!! ££
But oh so worth it!
With it you can have poles free standing and the fly covering everything within a few minutes.
No more of the inner getting soaking, having to mop the floor after everything is inside etc.
Absolutely get it because you will really struggle to pitch the tent fly first without it and if it’s raining you will curse and as soon as you are inside trying to dry off you will be on your phone ordering one!"

8.Review from Customer "Bobby Backpacker":

"This is the 2020 version of the footprint that fits the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 tent - take careful note - it does NOT fit prior years' tents.
Overall pleased with it. It does what it's supposed to and has served me well in keeping my tent bottom protected from mud and dust. As previous people have noted, in order for it to work properly, you should stake it out first and then assemble the tent. Fits perfectly if you do it this way. It rolls up compactly in the drawstring pouch it comes in and I can then easily stuff the pouch into the tent sack with everything else. I've also used this in the Fast Fly configuration and it works as advertised. My only complaint is that it seems excessively expensive for what it is. I also think that for the price of the tent, this footprint should be included, but that's just me."

9.Review from Customer "Connor C.":

"I was a bit surprised to find that the footprint was just slightly larger than the floor of my Copper Spur 2 tent. It works fine, but when you attach via the four attachment points on the corners, it doesn't pull perfectly taught and squarely under the surface area of the floor of the tent. You have to take a bit of time to arrange it neatly under the tent. Not ideal for how expensive it was. Maybe mine is an anomaly though???"

10.Review from Customer "Jonathan D.":

"Worth the price. Lightweight Nylon ripstop 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating
It was hard to justify the cost because essentially, I bought a tarp with grommets and strings; however, since it can be used to set the tent up in the rain and that it can be used to set your fly up as a sunshade it's worth it for me. Also, during debating I was considering buying a sheet of Poly or Tyvek instead, but those options would have cost me around $20, so I figured to spend a few more dollars and buy the real thing.

What I did was that I used the footprint to duplicate it with a Tyvek and a Polycryo sheet so I could use those instead if the conditions are dirty or muddy."
